We are a premier, self-service dog wash for dog owners of Hood River, Wasco, and Klickitat Counties and for all those who visit our beautiful Columbia River Gorge area.  Before now, dog owners living and visiting our area who wanted a clean dog had the choice of expensive dog groomers, or, bathing their dogs at home in the family tub or out in the yard.  Anyone with a large dog knows that fitting them into the household tub is nothing less than a challenge, a mess and perhaps risky. It’s usually more work to clean the bathroom afterwards than it is to actually give the dog a bath.  We’ve heard stories of dogs breaking shower and bath doors, tearing down the shower curtain and running sloppy wet out into the living room!  Washing the family dog in your bathroom is simply very inconvenient, messy and potentially dangerous.  For those of us who call this home, we have cold winters.  It’s not good to let the dog “air” dry in the cold, let alone give the dog a bath outside, so what’s a dog owner to do?  Live with a stinky dog?  And for those dog lovers visiting our area, hiking, biking, and playing in our cherished Columbia River, wouldn’t it be nice to have a clean, fresh smelling dog for the ride home after your visit to the Gorge?

Bath time for you and your cherished family pet is no longer a hassle!  You don’t have to wait for summer or for your appointment day because appointments aren’t necessary at GORGE RIVER-Your Self Service Dog Wash.

In April 2010, GORGE RIVER’s owner, Rhonda Marlnee, moved to Hood River from Portland and brought her 93 lb. Bernese Mountain Dog.   Two months after living here, she asked the question, “Where is the self-service dog wash?”  Rhonda and her dog, Anastasia, had grown accustomed to the convenience their local self-service dog wash provided in Portland and suddenly, she found herself washing Anastasia out in the yard.  Neither Rhonda nor Anastasia enjoyed this much.  Rhonda had always thought it would be fun to start her own self-service dog wash and now that dream has become a reality.

MISSION STATEMENT

We care about your dog!  We will provide a safe and comfortable place where dog owners can bathe their dog(s) without all the hassles typically associated with giving the dog a bath at home.  We believe that a clean dog makes for a happy and healthy dog.  A happy and healthy dog brings years of joy and heartfelt memories to its family.  We wish for you this happiness.
